大学の紹介
1890年創立。シカゴに近代的なキャンパスをかまえる私立の工科大学。「イリノイテック」の愛称で知られる。シカゴの産業発展をめざして、牧師たちによって創立されたArmour Collegeが母体。その後、吸収・合併を繰り返し1940年に現在の名称になった。半数以上の学生が工学系の専攻を学ぶほか、建築学やコンピュータサイエンス、ビジネスを専攻する学生も少なくない。ロースクール（法科大学院）もある。5年間で学士号と修士号を取得できるプログラムも人気。キャンパスは大都市シカゴの中心部にあって、インターンシップの機会は豊富にある。
