1891年創立。テネシー州都ナッシュビル(人口約55万人)に立地するキリスト教系の中規模私立大学。キリスト教的価値を体得し、国際的視野を持った人材の育成を目的としている。ナッシュビルはカントリーミュージックの中心地だが、大学内の規律は極めて厳格で、学生、教授とも校内での飲酒、喫煙は許されない。学生には、バイブルクラスとチャペルへの参加が義務付けられている。
