大学の紹介
1851年創立。メソジスト系の私立中規模総合大学。西海岸の高等教育機関の中では最古の部類に入る。開校時はカリフォルニア州サンタクララにあり、California Wesleyan Collegeという校名だったが、1925年にストックトンに移り、1961年に現在の名称になった。現在はストックトンキャンパスの他、サンフランシスコに歯学、サクラメントに法学の専門大学院がある。メディカルスクール（医学専門大学院）の開校は1858年と古かったが、現在はスタンフォード大学の一部になっている。キャンパスは整然として美しく、東海岸の名門校にひけをとらないたたずまい。車で2時間程度でサンフランシスコ、サンタクルズ、ヨセミテ国立公園などに行くことができる。
